The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Federal Operations Unit, FOU Zone A Ikeja, Lagos, seized goods worth N2.8 billion in the first three months of this year.

The Controller of the unit, Hassan Ejibunu, who disclosed this on Friday, said the unit also generated the sum of N305.3 million as revenue, made 206 seizures and arrested 29 suspects in the first quarter of the year.

Some of the seized items include rice, vehicles, tomato paste, premium motor spirit and used tyres, among others.

Ejibunu said anti-smuggling officers attached to the unit were recently shot at by smugglers along Igbori Village in Oyo State, but the assailants “were repelled with superior fire power”.
