The Women in Logistics and Transport (WILAT), which is the women wing of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) on Thursday celebrated its 4th anniversary with a seminar in Laos.
The association’s President, Hajia Aisha Ali-Ibrahim said the group was set up to provide mentoring and support to women in the transport and logistics profession.
She described mentoring as an irreplaceable ladder to sustainable development, which should be applied to all areas of human endeavors.
“WILAT is a strong professional team that enable women key into gender opportunities and government policies,” she said.
Ali-Ibrahim said the body also serves as a forum for professional networking for female transport and logistics professionals.
Also speaking at the event, the Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Hadiza Usman, said the industry at this time needs the contributions of “all women of great courage”.
Highlights of the event was the unveiling of WILAT mentoring programme for upcoming practitioners.
