Customs agents operating at Port Harcourt Area 4 (Oil and Gas Free Zone) have complained of gradually losing relevance at their operational area.
The zone’s Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) Chapter Chairman, Joshua Ahuama, said that agents operating at the zone are faced with a major challenge of low job traffic which he blamed on Intels Nigeria Limited – an Oil and Gas logistics support service provider.
He said that majority of cargoes in the zone belongs to Intels Nigeria Limited and their clearing process handled by the company’s subsidiaries leaving the agents with little to do.
The zone’s Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) Chapter Chairman, Joshua Ahuama, said that agents operating at the zone are faced with a major challenge of low job traffic which he blamed on Intels Nigeria Limited – an Oil and Gas logistics support service provider.

Ahuama said that this challenge among others has made it difficult for the chapter to meet up to the association’s zonal and national obligations.
He urged the ANLCA national body “to use all powers available to us as an organization to be recognized and respected by Intels Nigeria Limited and her subsidiaries.”
Ahuama reiterated the need for the association to assert its relevance at the operational trade zone as, according to him, “the success of the chapter is a strategic feat for ANLCA as more free zones are springing up while our failure may deprive us of revenue from other zones in future.”
