Shippers’ Council wants FG to facilitate operation of dry por

The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) has called on the Federal Government to facilitate the operation of the six dry ports in the country.
The Executive Secretary of the council, Mr. Hassan Bello, made the call Thursday in Abuja when he visited the Director-General of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC), Mallam Aminu Dikko.

It will be recalled that in 2002, the Federal Executive Council, FEC, approved the establishment of six dry ports in Kano, Plateau, Borno, Oyo, Katsina and Abia States.
Bello said that if the six new dry ports commenced operation, they would serve as origin and final destinations, where people could send their cargos abroad and receive them.
He added that they would also help to decongest the existing ports.
