The Ministers of Finance, Transport and Works, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Senator Idris Umar, and Architect Mike Onolememen, respectively, yesterday jointly stormed Lagos for a proposed inspection tour of ongoing construction works on the Lagos ports access roads.
The ministerial tour, however, could not hold yesterday, because the trio arrived the state late, and the Finance Minister returned to the Murtala Muhammed Airport, enroute Abuja, after the Deputy Governor Adejoke Adefulire creceived them at Government House, Alausa, Ikeja, on behalf of Governor Babatunde Fashola.
The duo of the Transport Minister and his Works Ministry counterpart are expected to tour the ports access roads today.
The tour is a follow-up to the one some months back in which the three Ministers were joined by top officials of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), and the Lagos Government, including Commissioners for Environment and Transport, Messrs Tunji Bello and Kayode Opeifa, respectively, in a combined effort by the Federal Government and the Lagos State Government to rehabilitate the ports access roads and free them from near-perennial gridlock.
