The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) will today join the global Customs community in celebrating this year’s International Customs Day (ICD).
The theme for this year’s ICD celebration is “Communication: sharing information for better cooperation.”
In press statement signed by the Customs Deputy Public Relations Officer, Joseph Attah, the NCS will use the event to showcase new communication tools in its continuous quest to foster greater mutual understanding.
The World Customs Organisation (WCO) on its website said it is dedicating the 2014 celebration to promoting communication.
“WCO Members will have the opportunity to enhance the communication and information sharing practices and mechanisms that they have implemented, within their administration, with ministries and other government agencies, with the trade community and with the general public,” the organisation stated.
Meanwhile the National President of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Prince Olayiwola Shittu, has felicitated with the NCS on the ICD celebration.
In a press release sent to SHIPS & PORTS DAILY, Shittu stated: “On the occasion of the celebration of International Customs Day, ANLCA felicitates with Customs Comptroller General, Alh. Abdullahi Dikko Inde, his management team and the entire rank and file of the Nigeria Customs Service for this memorable event.
“The theme for this year’s celebration “Communication: Sharing Information for Better Cooperation is quite apt especially now that communication has turned the world into a global village; at just the touch of a button one is already networking and interacting across the globe.
“We commend the CGC for the unprecedented achievements the Service has recorded so far in so such a time and therefore wish to align with the goals and aspirations of the Service in facilitating trade and generating revenue to the coffers of government.
“ANLCA will continue to give the desired support and encouragement to the Nigeria Customs Service in ensuring the overall success of the CGC’s transformation agenda.
