3 rescued from capsized boat – NEMA

Three persons have been rescued from a boat which capsized at Ogogoro village, Navy Town, Apapa in Lagos on Friday, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said.

In a statement in Lagos, NEMA said the three persons were a woman, her child and the boat operator, noting that they were rescued alive.

The accident occurred at about 12:05am and the boat conveying the woman and her child was travelling without headlights when it collided with a bigger boat.

Earlier reports said the occupants of the boat were rescued by Nigerian Navy’s Special Unit, National Inland Waterways Agency (NIWA), NEMA and the Police Disaster Response Unit.

Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, NEMA’s Information Officer, told journalists that survivors were taken to an undisclosed private hospital in Apapa.
