The Federal Government has hinted that the planned closure of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja will affect all passengers including very important personalities (VIPs).
The Minister of State for Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, dropped the hint Wednesday while speaking to State House reporters after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
Responding to a question on whether the closure would affect the VIPs, the minister said the airport would be “totally closed to passenger traffics for six weeks
The airport is to be closed to allow Julius Berger carry out the rehabilitation of its damaged runway. Within the period, Abuja-bound passengers from any part of the world will use the Kaduna Airport as alternative.
Sirika said the entire runway structure of the airport had failed, noting that “It is going for 14 years in excess of age”.
