A personnel of the Katsina/ Kaduna Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) is lying critically ill in hospital after allegedly shooting himself while on patrol duty.
The man simply identified as Mr. Apollo, it was learnt, allegedly accidentally shot himself last Wednesday night after a rifle he was carrying accidentally went off.
It was gathered that Apollo had been on patrol with his colleagues when the rifle he was carrying allegedly went off and wounded him in the process, and, according to a source, at “at a very sensitive area of his body” and was in a critical condition.

Another source said that Apollo was hit him on the knees.
“In fact his knee was ripped open,” the source said.
The injured officer was said to have been promptly rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Katsina, from where he was referred to the Orthopaedic Hospital, Kano, for further treatment.
Katsina/ Kaduna Command Customs Public Relations Officer (CPRO), Muhammad Giade, confirmed the incident, even as he dismissed the possibility that it had been a botched suicide attempt by Apollo.
