A frontline clearing agent, Chief Austin Kelly has attributed the series of problems bedeviling the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarders (CRFFN) to what he called “gang-up” by the two leading freight forwarding associations in the industry.
Kelly accused the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) and the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) of using the enormous power they wield in the freight forwarding industry to stifle the CRFFN.
He said, “CRFFN has been politicized and that is giving Jukwe a lot of problems, everything is politicized. When Jukwe introduce a policy, ANLCA will say no and NAGAFF will also say no and when the two formidable associations come together to fight him, where does he run to?
“We should know that Jukwe has no one to fight for him or to run to because the last executive members made things difficult because when they were leaving, they scattered and went their different ways.”
Kelly told SHIPS & PORTS DAILY that CRFFN is wallowing in ruins because it lacks a governing council to stand up for it and give it direction.
there was no board for over two years and with the heavy power play, the council may found it difficult to come back to life.
“Some of us are greedy and we believe it is only through association money that we can survive, the old ones should leave the stage for the young ones to come on board to run the associations,” he said.
