Agent faces trial for impersonation, forgery

Court

A 37-year-old “clearing agent”, Olubori Hameed, is to face trial before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court presided over by Mrs Adenike Alaka for alleged impersonation and forgery.

Hameed is standing trial on a three-count charge.

The prosecutor, Alexander Esebamen told the court that the defendant committed the offence on December 19, 2016 at about 9am in Apapa.

Esebamen said Hameed paraded himself as a clearing agent working with A.C.O Allien Industry Limited, Apapa knowing same to be false.

He added that the defendant forged A.C.O Allien Industry Agency documents to clear goods which caused Nigeria Customs Service to bar the agency from further operation.

According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened sections 409, 378 and 363(1) of the criminal law of Lagos State, 2011.

The defendant however pleaded not guilty to the three-count charges brought against him.

In her ruling, the Magistrate adjourned the case till August 25, 2017 for trial.
