Akala laments condition of Oyo ICD

Labour Party gubernatorial candidate in Oyo State, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala has promised to complete the Inland Dry port at Erunmu Oyo state if elected in the coming election.

Akala gave this assurance at the palace of the Baale of Erunmu, Oba Philip Adetayo Babarinde during his campaign tour last week.

The former governor recalled how his government secured the land, compensated the landowners and the community and started the project but was allegedly stopped by his successor, Abiola Ajimobi.

The ex-governor wondered why the incumbent government would pay lip services to laudable projects of such magnitude.

“Since I left, nothing serious has been done at the dry port and I am here again in the race with an assurance that if re -elected I will ensure completion of the projects and ensure it functions effectively.”

Oba Babarinde in his remark commended Akala for the steps taken while in office particularly on the establishment of dry port at Erunmu and expresses dismay over the abandonment of the projects since he left office.

The monarch who spoke through one of his chiefs, Alhaji Yusuf Ajadi also urged the Federal Government to hasten development on the project.

“Your government compensated us for our land and we appreciates that but we are not happy seeing our land not being used for the purpose it is meant for. We want you to do something as soon as you take over the mantle of leadership, we are assuring you of our support,” he said.
