The Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), on Monday marked its 59th anniversary.
The ANLCA National President, Prince Olayiwola Shittu, while briefing journalists at the ANLCA National Secretariat Amuwo-Odofin Lagos in commemoration of the day, said that the growth of the association, which, according to him, was founded under the Illiterate Protection Act Cap 83 of 1954 with Certificate No. 38799 of 30th September 1954, under various leaderships has made it an institution that justified its existence.
“The founding fathers had in mind a platform for the promotion of best practices in customs brokerage as well as the enhancement of members’ welfare. Today, we are proud to say that we have not let them down,” Shittu said.
He said that ANLCA has remained focused and committed to the ideals of her founding fathers despite the tribulations it has faced as a growing institution and “in spite of the establishment of other associations that had broken away from ANLCA at one time or the other.”
The association, according to him, has not relented in its advocacy for professionalism neither has it deviated from its core values of respect to constituted authority as well as in its strive for enhanced welfare for its members in the form of training and capacity building.
Shittu explained that a committee has been set up for year-long activities that will culminate in a grand celebration of the association’s 60th anniversary.
