There are unconfirmed reports that the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) may take disciplinary actions against two of its for failing to hand over two weeks after they were posted out of their commands.
Area Controller in charge of Seme Customs Command, Garba Ndalati and his counterpart in Port Harcourt Area 1, Kuffidan Garba were said to have refused their postings out of the commands.
Deputy Comptroller General of Customs in charge of Finance, Administration and Technical Services (FATS), John Atte who until penultimate Thursday was the Acting Comptroller General of Customs had approved the redeployment of five Area Controllers including Ndalati and Garba.
Both Area controllers were redeployed to the Strategic Research and Policy (SR & P) unit at Customs Headquarters, Abuja.
The redeployment, which was contained in a statement issued by the service Deputy Public Relations Officer, Joseph Attah in Abuja said the new postings were with immediate effect.
It was learnt that the three other affected Controllers have since assumed duties at their new posts.
SHIPS & PORTS DAILY gathered that the action of both Controllers had infuriated the Custom management who summoned them to Abuja on Wednesday and subsequently allegedly suspended the duo.
However, when contacted, Customs Deputy Public Relations Officer, Joseph Atta said he was not aware of the development.
“I am not aware of that. Their postings took them to Abuja and they are now here,” he said.
