The Controller, Apapa command of the Nigeria Customs Service, Comptroller Willy Egbudin yesterday retired from active service after serving the statutory 35 years.
Addressing the officers shortly before handing over to the new Controller, Comptroller Jubrin Musa, Egbudin urged the officers to continue to maintain discipline and integrity in the course of their duties.
He expressed appreciation to the officers for helping him achieve success during his stay at the Command urging them to extend the same support and cooperation to the new Controller.
“Continue to do the proper thing. We can beat our chest to say we have done well throughout the period. He is taking over from where I stopped so I plead with you to give him the cooperation he needs.
“Don’t give him (Jubrin) any headache. Let him know you are disciplined officers.
“One thing I have always stressed is the issue of discipline.
“Discipline is the bedrock of all development. Your level of compliance and discipline is high and we must keep it up but we still have more to do.
“Improve on other areas you still need to do and do not allow any agent to compromise your integrity,” he said.
Egbudin has served in various capacities as Area Controller, Lilypond, now Tin Can 2, Seme border command and at the Enforcement, Investigation and Inspection Unit at the Customs headquarters among others.
In his remarks, Comptroller Jubrin described Comptroller Egbudin as a dedicated officer with a good record throughout his stay in the Service.
He promised to build on the achievement of his predecessor even as urged the officers to improve on other areas while maintaining their high level of discipline.
“I am happy he rated you high in discipline and I ask you to build on that. I know you can do more because there is room for improvement so that together we can raise the bar.
“Remain on your course and do not relax. I can assure you that I will do everything within my capacity to ginger everybody to deliver on our mandate,” he said.
