A body called the Concerned Accredited Freight Forwarding Association (CAFFA) has described the letter from the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) to the factional Deputy President of National Council of Managing Director of Licensed Customs Agents (NCMDLCA) Uchu Block as fake.
The group, comprising National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), Association of Registered Freight Forwarders of Nigeria (AREFFN), NCMDLCA and the National Association of Air Freight Forwarders and Consolidators (NAFFAC) condemned the document in its entirety.
SHIPS & PORTS DAILY reported exclusively yesterday that the SGF letter effectively stopped the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) from collecting the controversial professional operating fees.
CAFFA advised its members to be law abiding by paying the CRFFN operating fee.
Speaking with the media yesterday on the outcome of a meeting in Lagos, the group’s Director of Publicity, Frank Ukor condemned last week’s harassment of officials of CRFFN over collection of the fee at Seme border.
“All members should be security conscious and they should shun all forms of retaliation pending the outcome of federal government position on the matter.
“We all should be law abiding by going about our lawful duties at the ports and land borders”
“We want to let the federal government know, through CRFFN, that we are solidly behind any decision taken by CRFFN as it concerns professional operating fee as approved by the Minister of Transport,” he said.
He said the four associations unanimously agreed that CRFFN should start the collection immediately as approved and gazette by the federal government for capacity building.
