Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Chief Henry Njoku, has decried ethnic sentiments within the folds of the oldest body of licensed customs agents.
Speaking in Port Harcourt during the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the association last week, Njoku said it would be difficult to reposition ANLCA for greater heights except its members eschew ethnic sentiments.
He said that there is a compelling need for members of the association to set aside ethnic differences and work together to meet the philisophy of professionalism that informed the association’s formation.
Njoku commended the national president of the association, Prince Olayiwola Shittu, for his focus and commitment to steering the association away from the verge of disintegration it experienced at inception.
On his own part, Shittu dispelled insinuations that he runs the association based on ethnic sentiments even as he told the members: “you all are my brothers; I don’t care whether you are Yoruba or Igbo.”
