Brazil adds more ports to privatisation plan

Brazil to privatise São Sebastião port

The Brazilian government has announced it was adding several ports to its privatization plan including both Rio de Janeiro’s port authority Companhia Docas do Rio de Janeiro (CDRJ) and Pará state port authority Companhia Docas do Pará (CDP).

The Infrastructure Ministry said that in addition to the privatisation of CDRJ “the ports of Rio de Janeiro, Itaguaí, Niterói and Angra dos Reis will be offered to the private sector”.

The privatisation of Docas do Pará will include the concession of the ports of Belém, Vila do Conde and Santarém.

The government has committed to auction the 35-year concession for Santos port in São Paulo state, the country’s biggest port, by the end of this year.

The privatisation of the Port of Santos calls for a minimum price of $586.32m (BRL3.02bn) for the auction of the Santos Port, the largest in Latin America, according to a government’s presentation.
