Chinese ports handle 22.77m TEUS in one month

 

Chinese ports handled 22.77 million TEUs of containers in July, swelling 6.9% from a year earlier and by 450,000 TEUs from June, the nation’s Ministry of Transport (MOT) announced. Breaking it down, coastal ports were responsible for 20.16 million TEUs, up 6.6%, while 2.61 million TEUs were moved to and from inland river ports, up 9.5%. From a month earlier, it almost stayed flat.

In the first seven months (January-July), combined throughput rose 5.2% to 149.76 million TEUs, consisting of 132.75 million TEUs processed at coastal ports, which increased 4.5%, and 17.02 million TEUs at inland river ports, which improved a more remarkable 11.2%.

Looking at top three performances at coastal ports in January-July, Shanghai handled 25.39 million TEUs, up 5.5%, enjoying the leading share of the pie. Ranked second was Ningbo-Zhoushan, which processed 16.42 million TEUs, up 6.1%. Finishing in third place, containers to and from Shenzhen hiked 1.7% to 14.68 million TEUs. The top three ports remained unchanged from a year earlier.
