A clearing agent, Olufemi Deji threatened to beat up SHIPS & PORTS DAILY reporter, John Omoaka yesterday for making attempt to get feedback from his defence counsel, B.O Aomuo at the premises of the Apapa Magistrates’ Court.

The incident took place after the cross-examination involving him and an exporter, Fatai Idris whom he (Deji) allegedly duped of N1.2m in January 2016.

Deji, who obviously had an idea of what the discussion between his lawyer and the reporter might be about, quickly dashed in and insulted the reporter and also threatened to beat him up.

The reporter, not wanting to create unnecessary scene within the court premises, quietly left the place.

This is not the first time that an accused has tried to intimidate a reporter. Just recently, a former Director-General of NIMASA, Patrick Akpobolokemi, had threatened to beat up a female reporter within the Federal High court premises in Ikoyi, Lagos.
