Construction of Badagry seaport starts June if NPA approves — Sanwo-Olu

 

Construction works would start on the Badagry deep seaport in June if approval is received from the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) by April, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has assured.

The governor spoke at a stakeholders’ meeting in Badagry where residents expressed their optimism and frustration about the project take-off 10 years after the idea was birthed.

He described the proposed project as a multi-level opportunity for progress and development.

“We want to deliberately push development to this axis,” he said.

The Governor also reiterated the government’s readiness to compensate residents for economic losses on buildings, ancestral lands, farms and sites.

He also expressed confidence that the deliberations would help to fashion out reasons to forge ahead with the project

According to Sanwo-Olu, the project would ensure employment and capacity building for women and youths.
