Continental Maritime Women Federation coming soon – WISTA President

The need for women in Africa to actively participate in building the continent’s economy came to the fore last week in Angola with a decision to establish a Continental Maritime Women Federation as soon as possible.

This was contained in a communiqué made available to newsmen in Lagos by President of Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA) Nigeria, Jean Chiazor-Anishere.

The conference tagged `WIMAFRICA 2015′ was organised by the Angolan Women in Maritime Association in collaboration with Maritime Organisation of West and Central Africa (MOWCA).

The communiqué noted that Africa lacked a continental manifesto and a common agenda to resolve gender issues in the maritime sector.
