Court slams 100 hours community service on iPhone thief

An Apapa Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday slammed 100 hours of community service on a 33-year-old man, Emmanuel Nonso, after he pleaded guilty to stealing one iPhone valued at N100,000.

The prosecutor, Inspector Iyobosa Onaiwu, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on September 1, 2019 at about 5am at 304 Old Ojo Road, Premier Hotel, Kuje-Amuwo, Lagos.

“The defendant conspired with others at large to steal one iphone 7 plus valued at N100,000 property of one Merabel Monday,” Onaiwu said.

According to her, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

Nonso pleaded guilty to the two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing, after which Magistrate Tolani Shekoni-Adeyekun handed down the sentence to him.
