A 28-year-old man, identified as Victor Eretan, was on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing one Acura Honda car valued at N4 million in Apapa.
Eretan is facing a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy, stealing, resisting arrest and member of secret cult.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Marvellous Obongha, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on October 14, 2018 at Cardoso Close, Kirikiri Town, Apapa.
“The defendant found to be a member of Eja Secret Cult Society, conspired together with others at large to steal one Acura Honda car valued at N4 million property of one Ebere Amechi,” Ogbongha said.
The prosecutor added the defendant resisted arrest when he was apprehended.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411, 287, 174 and 47 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
The defendant however pleaded not guilty to all the charges against him.
Magistrate, K.A Ariyo, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.
The sureties, according to the Magistrate, must be gainfully employed, furnish the court with six months bank statement and evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
She adjourned the case till November 13, 2018 for mention.
