The Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has directed its officers to ensure 100 percent physical examination of cargoes to improve revenue generation.
The command’s Controller, Jayne Shoboiki, who issued the directive weekend said without proper examination, releasing officers could approve the delivery of ‘the wrong consignment’.
She advised releasing officers to be diligent as the command’s management team and headquarters are monitoring their activities.
Shoboiki stressed that examination officers should be explicit in the inspection acts for proper valuation and work as a team.
She enjoined officers to embrace the Nigerian Customs Integrated System (NICIS) 11 recently launched in order to realize the command’s revenue target.
