The Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted 369 parcels of cannabis sativa, otherwise known as Indian hemp.
The Customs Area Controller, Mr. Richard Oteri, said the Odo/Orita outstations, in a joint operation intercepted a fairly used Golf car loaded with 369 parcels of Indian hemp.
He said the hemps parcels were concealed in bales of second hand clothings, popularly called Okirika, which he noted is also contraband.
According to him, the arrest, which was made along the Gbagbe-Kwara axis, was made possible through a tip-off.
He said the drug was handed over to the state Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Mrs. Faboyede Omolade on March 3, 2015 to further build on the robust inter-agency collaboration and synergy existing between sister agencies.
Oteri said the Oyo/Osun Command of the Customs will continue to police its area of operation in line with the Customs Comptroller-General’s zero tolerance for smuggling.
