Customs launches advance ruling system for trade facilitation

Adeniyi tours Customs HQ, promises to enhance staff welfare

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in conjunction with the Nigerian Energy Support Programme (NESP) has launched a scheme it called Advance Ruling to enhance trade facilitation and creating transparent business environment.

Comptroller General of Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi said the scheme is a critical mechanism that allows traders to obtain binding decisions from Customs administrations on the classification, origin, and valuation of goods before importation.

“According to the WCO and the WTO, Advanced Ruling enhances predictability and transparency in customs procedures, streamlining trade processes and minimising delays, uncertainties, and costs associated with Customs clearance,” Adeniyi said.
