The Federal Operations Unit Zone ‘A’ of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) said it seized goods worth N572.1million between January and first week of April 2016.
Comptroller of the unit, Mohammed Dahiru who disclosed this in a press statement, gave details of the seizure as follows:
- 4,911 bags of 50kg parboiled rice
- 1,5048 cartons of imported frozen products
III. 1,884 kegs (25 litres) of vegetable oil
- 17 trucks of unprocessed teak woods
Dahiru said the unit had resolved “to deal ruthlessly with smugglers as long as they are ready to circumvent the fiscal policies of the Federal Government in terms of trade, we will continue to arrest and prosecute them as a deterrent to others”.
