Customs to train agents on PAAR application

The Tin can Island Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has assured that it would soon start training agents on the intricacies of the Pre-Arrival Assessment Report (PAAR).
Area Controller of the command, Comptroller Jibrin Zakari, gave this assurance yesterday when the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) Tin Can Caretaker Committee paid an official working visit to the command.
Chairman of the committee, Chief Azubuike Ekwezor, had during his speech urged the command to organize training sessions to enlighten agents on the workings of the re-introduced PAAR among other trade facilitation IT platforms.

He said: “The command as a matter of urgency should start sensitizing freight forwarders and agents on the introduction of PAAR, the Single Window platform and the Nigeria Trade Hub that will serve as a replacement of destination inspection. We expect the CAC should organize a workshop or visit NAGAFF Headquarters to speak on this please.”
In response to Ekwezor’s pleas, Comptroller Zakari had assured the NAGAFF delegation that as soon as his officers complete training on the use of PAAR, he will facilitate the commencement of training for the agents.
