The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, has vowed to arrest and prosecute the killers of Customs Assistant II, Auwal Haruna, who was murdered by suspected smugglers in Katsina State on April 17, 2024.
During a condolence visit to the deceased’s family in Kayawa, Adeniyi, through a delegation, assured that the NCS is doing everything possible to apprehend the perpetrators.
“We will never allow the perpetrators to go free. We will ensure that the suspects are arrested and punished accordingly,” Adeniyi was quoted as saying in a press statement through the NCS delegation led by an unidentified officer.
Adeniyi was quoted as describing the killing as unprovoked and expressed profound grief over the needless death of the gallant officer.
He commiserated with the family and the entire Kayawa community, saluting the heroism and courage of NCS operatives who face dangers in the line of duty.
“NCS, in collaboration with other security agencies, are tirelessly working to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure they face the full wrath of the law,” he said.
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State also charged security agencies to arrest the killers of the customs officer.
“it is very important that the security agencies in charge of investigation ensure that the culprits are brought to book and justice is done,” he said.
The Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Faruq-Umar, urged the NCS to remain resolute in tackling smuggling and other cross-border crimes in the state.
