The Western Marine Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted 51 sacks containing 4,070 parcels of Cannabis Sativa in January 2024.

This was made known by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Magaji Mailafiya in a statement made available to SHIPS & PORTS.

Mailafiya said a joint patrol team of the command received credible intelligence of the movement of a wooden boat suspected of transporting items around the Moba Seashore axis on Friday 19th January 2024 at 1206hrs.

“After a hot pursuit of the identified boat by officers of the command, the smugglers dived into the creek, abandoning the boat fully loaded with the goods,” he said.

He said the wooden boat powered by tow 40hp engines was towed back to the command at Ibafon, Apapa, Lagos “and after careful examination, it was found to contain 4,070 parcels of Cannabis Sativa weighing 1785kg.”
