Customs Zone C boosts war against smugglers, takes delivery of 20 patrol jeeps

The Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone C of the Nigeria Customs Service, Owerri, on Monday took delivery of 20 patrol jeeps to fight smuggling in the zone.

Handing over the vehicles to the various units in the zone, the Area Controller, Victor Dimka, said it was aimed at covering every nook and cranny of the zone against smugglers.

Dimka said that with the number of patrol vehicles now available at the zone, smuggling activities would be reduced to the barest minimum. He called on officers and men of the NCS in the various units to live up to their responsibilities.

Dimka expressed gratitude to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Dikko Abdullahi, for providing the vehicles to the zone.

“The adage that to whom much is given, much is expected, will be played out here. I therefore advise my officers to be up and doing to make things difficult for smugglers in the zone,” he said.

The patrol jeeps were handed over to various units in Enugu, Port Harcourt, Calabar, Benin, Owerri and Asaba.
