DP World-operated Container Rail Road Services (CRRS) has added two new rail services to their portfolio for improving connectivity between Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT) with Kanpur, and Mundra with ICD Bawal in Rewari district of Haryana.
The services operate on eco-friendly and energy-efficient modes of transport to ease congestion at ports and national highways.
Trucking solutions have also been introduced to enable easy movement of cargo to and from ICDs to the customers’ doorstep, said Senior Vice-President and Managing Director, DP World Subcontinent, Anil Singh, in a statement on Monday.
He said CRRS enables the company to go beyond the terminal gates, to get closer to its customers and offer services into their logistics chain.
DP World operates multiple yet related businesses — from marine and inland terminals, maritime services, logistics and ancillary services to technology-driven trade solutions. It has a portfolio of 77 operating marine and inland terminals supported by over 50 related businesses in 40 countries across six continents.
Container handling is the company’s core business and generates more than three quarters of its revenue.
In 2015, DP World handled 61.7 million TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units). Its current gross capacity of 79.6 million TEU is expected to rise to more than 100 million TEU by 2020.
