A 25-year-old driver, Boaz Ali, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly damaging cars worth N5.1 million in Lagos.
Ali is facing a four-count charge of unlawful damage, reckless driving, accident and driving without driver’s license.
The prosecutor, Inspector Paul Ugorji, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on October 11, 2019 at about 12pm along Agboju Road by Festac Police Station, Festac Town, Lagos.
“The defendant being a driver in charge of a Ford vehicle with registration number SMK 833 XN drove same vehicle and damaged a Lexus car with registration number BDG 221 FL valued at N3.6 million property of one Raphael Anasecia and a Toyota Camry car with registration number KSF 50 FJ valued at N1.5 million property of one Fatai Audu,” Ugorji said.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 24, 19 and 124 of the Road Traffic Laws of Lagos State 2012.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
Magistrate L.O Kazeem granted him N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The sureties are required to furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the case till November 27, 2019 for mention.
