ENL Consortium donates patrol van to Police

ENL Consortium, operator of Terminals C and D of the Lagos Port Complex Apapa, has donated a brand new patrol vehicle to the Western Ports Command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to enhance its duties.

The vehicle was handed over to the Police by the General Manager of ENL Consortium, Mr. Mark Walsh, at the company’s head office in Lagos on Monday.

Mr. Walsh said the donation was part of his company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) aimed at assisting the Police combat crime.

He said, “We have been doing this all the time. It is part of our CSR not only to the Police but also to other government agencies that are around. When they were in need of vehicles, they came to us and we assisted.”

While applauding the Police for ensuring the security of goods and persons in and around the port area, he assured of ENL Consortium’s readiness to render assistance anytime the need arises.

“The Police are doing their best to make the port safe, we all know that the port has been very secure for the past 5 years more than it was in the past and the Police have been doing what they should do anytime there is a problem and when we call them, they respond immediately,” Walsh said.

The Commissioner of Police, Western Ports, Mr. Kayode Aderanti, who received the vehicle on behalf of the Command expressed appreciation to the management of ENL Consortium for donating the brand new patrol vehicle for use by its Apapa division.

Aderanti said the vehicle would help check criminal activities in the port and also help in keeping the port environment safe.

He said, “I know that with what ENL has done today, all other corporate bodies will see it as part of their responsibility to partner with the Police, create a synergy with the police to ensure that all properties and infrastructures within the ports are secured and kept safe.

“Like I told the management, we are going to deploy this vehicle to the purpose for which it was donated which is to increase our visibility, maintain dominance within the port area and ensure that all terminals are kept safe.

“Our port is relatively secured. We are always at alert and we have put our men on standby, we don’t sleep, rest, go on leave or have holidays. This is to ensure that the port is safe for all the companies to conduct their businesses in a very friendly environment.”
