A former Director General of the defunct National Maritime Authority (NMA), Ferdinand Agu, is dead.
Agu, who was an architect, served as NMA Director General from 2000 to 2005.
NMA was merged with the similarly defunct Joint Maritime Labour Industrial Council (JOMALIC) on 1st August 2006 to form the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).
Agu, who was in his sixties, died on Friday morning after reportedly suffering a heart attack.
He had attended an interactive session organised by NIMASA in Lagos on Thursday 9th May 2024.
The deceased held a national honour of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR).
After his tenure at NMA, he served as Senior Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan between 2011 and 2015.
