Former Executive Director, Cabotage and Maritime Labour Service of the Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Barr. Ibrahim Zailani, has declared his intention to vie for the governorship seat of Bauchi State on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2015 general elections.
Zailani, who is a former Bauchi State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice and former member of the House of Representatives, declared his governorship ambition at Atawalah Hotel in Bauchi Saturday, saying his decision to join the gubernatorial race is to render service to humanity and the state with passion in accordance with the manifesto of the APC.
“Since the advent of democracy in 1999, our state has passed through series of struggles geared towards making it attain greatness that may be beneficial to all but it is yet to meet the target, hence the need for some of us who are looked up to by the majority for solution to their problems to offer ourselves for the task as an answer to the clarion call,” he said.
Zailani declared that his aspiration to contest was to contribute his quota to the development of the state and not for personal comfort, saying Bauchi belongs to them and it behoves on all its sons and daughters to contribute to its development.
“It is the desire of my campaign organization christened Hope 2015 to pursue the struggle according to the rules of the game without injury to any person or group. Hope 2015 shall continue to work relentlessly with all the party structures to achieve its desired objective.
“Let me assure all and sundry that ours shall be politics without bitterness and rancour and whosoever the party, APC, finally offers through due process to fly its flag for the 2915 gubernatorial race shall be adequately supported by Hope 2015,” he said.
Zailani said his concern is for APC to present credible, visionary, intelligent, focused and committed patriot to fly its flag for the gubernatorial contest to transform the state to an enviable level.
“It is our responsibility to join forces to defeat the threats posed to our people by poverty, malnutrition, inept leadership, infrastructural decay, demoralised civil service and general threat of under-development that may eventually ground the once vibrant state to a halt.
“As people of Bauchi State, it is our collective responsibility to support the right person on the platform of our APC to pilot the affairs of our state in 2015 for the desired change,” he added.
