A 53-year-old female Customs officer, Jane Ejikeme, was on Monday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly assaulting a female security officer in Lagos.
Ejikeme is facing a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, assault and breach of peace.
The prosecutor, Inspector Olugbenga Salami, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on May 1, 2019 at about 10am at the main gate of CBN Estate 2, Alakija Satellite Town, Lagos.
“The defendant conspired together with others at large to unlawfully assault one Fatimo Haruna by giving her fist blow on her face while performing her lawful duty,” Salami said.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411, 173 and 168(d) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Magistrate M.O Kadiri granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties each in like sum. The sureties are required to furnish the court with three years tax payment to Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the case till May 27, 2019 for mention.
