The Federal Government weekend commissioned security boats and other infrastructures at the Nigerian Maritime Resource Development Centre (NMRDC), Kirikiri, Lagos.
The boats include security boats, refurbished search and rescue pollution control boats, ferry boats.
Speaking at the event, the Minister for Transportation, Mu’azu Jaji Sambo, said the commissioning reinforces the government’s determination to deliver and sustain a safe, secure shipping, cleaner oceans and enhanced maritime capacity in line with best practices.
He said four ferries were also acquired and commissioned for use of staff of the Nigerian Maritime Administration Agency (NIMASA) to increase their productivity.
Other infrastructures commissioned the Minister included the renovated administrative block of NIMASA, a renovated NIMASA multipurpose hall and the NIMASA search and rescue clinic.
