Out of the N18.05 billion appropriated for capital projects in the 2016 budget for the aviation sector, N7 billion has been released but only N2.838 billion has been expended on capital projects, as at 9th September 2016.
This represents 39 percent budget performance on capital projects in the sector. The Minister of State for Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika disclosed this yesterday when the Senate Committee on Aviation visited his office on oversight function.
The minister noted that the balance on the amount released is N4.161 billion while the balance on appropriation stands at some N11.050 billion as at 9th November, 2016. He said the ministry achieved 83% performance on its personnel budget.
Giving the breakdown he said N1,370,856,009.00 was appropriated for personal, N1,142,380,007.50 has been released and all has been spent as at 9th September 2016 leaving a balance of N228,476,001.50 outstanding balance on appropriation.
On overhead cost budget performance, he said the sum of N437,276,086.00 was appropriated as overhead in the 2016 budget for aviation, out of which, N314,630,639.36 has been released. Out of the released sum, N310,115,352.00 has been spent leaving a balance of N122,645,446.64 on appropriation.
