Royal Salt Company Limited located at the Kirikiri Lighter Terminal ( KLT) Phase One has donated a new patrol van to the KLT division of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF).
Speaking during the handing over of the patrol van to the Commissioner of Police, Western Port, Hilda Ibifuro-Harrison, General Manager of the company, Joslin Couthinho said the gesture was to help the police enhance its duties.He said the donation was part of his company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CRS) aimed at assisting the police patrol and secure its immediate environment.
“It is important for us to keep this place in order. That made us to think that we should also support this course and this is the reason why we have decided to give this vehicle to the DPO which was lacking.It will help them to mobilise themselves, move around and keep the place in order,” he said.
While commending the police for ensuring the security of goods and persons in and around the area, Couthinho assured that the company operator will continue to render assistance anytime the need arises.
“We will continue supporting and helping the police as well as the Customs taskforce as long as the resources are there,” he assured.
The Commissioner of Police, who received the vehicle on behalf of the command expressed appreciation to the management of the firm for donating the patrol van for use by its KLT Division.
Ibifuro-Harrison who also thanked the KLT Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Frances Ekwereuzor for her support said the vehicle would help enhance the work of the police and also help in keeping the environment safe.
She said, “We appreciate you for this kind gesture.With this Nigerian port is safe for you to do your business and whatever information you hear that will help help us and your company please bring to our knowledge and we will do our best,”
Also speaking, Comptroller Enwereuzor said the patrol van will go a long way in assisting the Joint Traffic Control Taskforce which was created to help control the persistent traffic gridlock along the port access road.
“When I came to KLT, there was no taskforce in place because of the traffic situation on that bridge so we had to create one. I know the benefit of synergising with other stakeholders and this we did and is yielding fruit today,” she said.
She called on other stakeholders to emulate the kind gesture of the firm.
