Former NIMASA DG Bashir Jamoh Announces Bid for Kaduna North Senate Seat

Bashir Jamoh replaces Dakuku as NIMASA DG

A former Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr Bashir Jamoh, has announced his intention to contest the Kaduna North Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.

He made this known on Friday while speaking on the sidelines of the Honorary Moot Court Appearance and Debate Competition organised by Precision Chambers at the Faculty of Law, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria.

Jamoh recalled that he was a gubernatorial aspirant in Kaduna State during the 2023 general elections but stepped down following advice to support another candidate who had earlier been considered for the position.

He explained that he has since received renewed calls from individuals in his constituency to consider contesting for a different elective office not currently held by the incumbent governor.

In response, he stated that he has initiated consultations with key political stakeholders within the zone.

“I have written to important stakeholders in the region regarding the request for me to seek an elective position,” Jamoh said. “My stance is that I am prepared to offer myself for public service once again, but I am still consulting widely.”

He also acknowledged the students’ efforts in organising the moot court and debate event, noting its contribution to academic and civic engagement.
