At least four persons were feared killed on Wednesday morning when men of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) shot at their vehicle containing 25bags of rice at Kobape, along the Abeokuta/Sagamu road.
Though, details of the incident were scanty as at time of this report, the situation paralyzed activities along the busy road for several hours.
Also, hundreds of protesters have stormed the State Command of the NCS off Quarry road, Ibara. As at 3.30pm men of the Operation Mensah, a combined team of the Nigerian Army, Police, Navy, NSCDC mounted security check to prevent entrance into the command premises.
It was gathered that the driver of the vehicle, simply identified as Onila, was taking the rice to Sagamu but hit by bullets and died immediately on the spot. The sporadic shots allegedly cut up with three other commuters who now on danger list at the state hospital, Ijaiye
The Customs officers were under a senior officer called Oga Ogunbiyi at the Kobape junction and in the course of the argument, one of the officials started firing sporadically, one of the shots hit the car tyre making the driver to overturn severally.
The man, who had already been hit in the legs, was coming out from the car when he was again pummeled by more shots and died on the spot.
