Four kidnapped dredging workers released in Bayelsa

The four workers of a dredging company attached to construction giant, Setraco, were Wednesday released after about 10 days in the kidnappers den in Bayelsa State.

The dredging company workers were abducted last Saturday at about 9pm  along the Agbakabriye by the gunmen at the site of the multi-million naira contract of the Ogbia-Nembe road of Nembe in Nembe Local Government Area of the State.

The released workers have been identified as Caleb Agene, Otuke Magic Kingdom, Gabriel Oghene and Godwin Odukpong.

Confirming the release of the abducted workers, the Spokesman of the Bayelsa State Police Command, Alex Akhigbe, said a team of the Bayelsa Police Command had planned to storm the den of the kidnappers “but some good Samaritans saw them where they were a detained close to Brass Area and helped them to Ogbia waterside.”

According to Akhigbe, “they were dropped along the Brass waters by the kidnappers around 5am and assisted to the Ogbia waterside at about 7am.”

It would be recalled that the dredging crew members were reportedly seized and whisked away from their dredging base by the armed men who came in a speedboat.
