Gbemudu returns to Zone ‘A’ as Customs redeploys Comptrollers, ACGs

The management of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has redeployed a total number of eight Assistants Comptroller General (ACGs) and 22 Comptrollers of Customs, SHIPS & PORTS DAILY has gathered.

In the latest round of posting, ACG Banke Adeyemo who assumed office as the Zonal Coordinator in charge of Zone ‘A’ barely five months ago has been redeployed to Tariff and Trade (T & T) at the Customs headquarters in Abuja.

Sources told SHIPS& PORTS DAILY that her redeployment may not be unconnected to the zone’s failure to meet its revenue target. The zone is expected to generate as much as 75 per cent of the NCS revenue target for the year.

It would be recalled that Customs witnessed a huge drop in its first quarter revenue as it collected a mere N77.9 billion as against N400 billion it was expected to collect in the first three months of the year.

The amount collected represents 19.5 per cent of its projected revenue for the first quarter of the year. The amount is also less than half of the N191.3 billion collected by the Service in the first quarter of 2013.

A document of the revenue profile released by the NCS indicated that N27.4 billion was collected in January, N23.8 billion in February and N26.7 billion in March.
