How hoodlums burnt NPA headquarters

The hoodlums that set the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) headquarters in Marina, Lagos, on fire on Wednesday stormed the facility with dangerous weapons, petrol, used vehicle tyres and lighters to carry out their dastardly act, according to an eyewitness.

The unruly hoodlums, who were in a large group, also reportedly chased out the workers of the Federal Government agency before setting the building and several vehicles on fire.

“They damaged the windscreen of several vehicles parked within the premises. They also opened the bonnets of the vehicles so that they could go up in flames,” the eyewitness told SHIPS & PORTS.

Usually reliable sources informed SHIPS & PORTS that armed soldiers were mobilised and deployed to the facility to chase the hoodlums away to allow NPA firemen douse the inferno.

“NPA firefighters were able to contain the inferno immediately the armed military men arrived and the hoodlums fled.

“The extent of the damage is difficult to tell at this time, but at least the fire has been contained,” the eyewitness said.

NPA spokesman, Engr. Adams Jatto could not be reached for comments on the incident.
