Hugh Nwaneri, Elkins Marine CEO is dead

The Managing Director/CEO of Elkins Marine Training International, Otunba Hugh Friday Nwaneri is dead.

Nwaneri reportedly died in Owerri, Imo State in April but was buried on Thursday in his home town, Nkwerre town, Nkwerre Local Government Area of the state.

A close associate of the late Nwaneri and former President of the Nigerian Association of Master Mariners, Capt. Adewale Ishola, confirmed the death and burial in a message to SHIPS & PORTS DAILY.

He was the first Nigerian Certified Maritime Telecommunications instructor/examiner. He was also a fellow of the Certified Institute of Management of Nigeria (CIMN); Strategic Finance and Administration and Institute of Strategic Management.
Elkins Marine Training International Nigeria Limited, founded by Nwaneri, was recognized as one of the elite companies in Nigeria by the Standards Organisation of Nigeria.

The training school is the first approved maritime training school in Nigeria. The institute is one of the training schools in Nigeria on the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) White List and accredited to train professionals in the IMO STCW-95, ISM Code, ISPS Code and other Safety and Security courses.

He was the recipient of several traditional chieftaincy titles.
