In protest against shipping lines, MWUN vows to shut seaports Monday

MWUN suspends 7-days ultimatum issued to shipping companies

The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has said that it will commence a nationwide strike action on Monday over lingering disputes with shipping lines with regards to the welfare of their members.

MWUN President-General, Prince Adewale Adeyanju, said this at a press briefing in Lagos on Thursday.

He said the union had been fighting with the shipping companies on the welfare of workers to no avail.

He said despite several ultimatums, the shipping companies had refused to improve workers’ welfare.

He lamented that workers in the shipping industry were being treated like slaves.
