The Chairman, Indigenous Shipowners Association of Nigeria (ISAN), Chief Isaac Jolapamo, has commended the Federal Government for its commitment to improving the lot of Nigerian ship owners.
In his speech at the opening ceremony of the Nigeria Maritime Expo (NIMAREX) 2013, Jolapamo expressed hopes of brighter days for indigenous ship owners with their ships undergoing repairs courtesy of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).
He said: “I want to say that things are getting better. It is getting better because of people like our Honorable Minister of Transport, the Executive Secretary Nigeria Content Development Board, and the DG of NIMASA. Today we are able to showcase more about our potentials and I hope that when we come again in the coming year we will have something to report. Our ships are being repaired now by NIMASA. The President has also asked for a retreat which culminated into a Presidential Committee that is working on harnessing the potential of our maritime industry under the chairmanship of the transport minister and very shortly things will start getting better for all of us in the maritime industry.”
