Jonathan says Nigeria owes Chief Shonekan huge debt of gratitude

President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday felicitated with a former Head of the Interim National Government, Chief Ernest Shonekan on his 79th birthday.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, the President said Nigeria owes Shonekan a huge debt of gratitude for his immense contributions to national development.

Chief Shonekan is the Board Chairman of APM Terminals Apapa.

“On behalf of my family, the government and people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I write to felicitate with you on the occasion of your 79th birthday anniversary, tomorrow, May 9, 2015.

“Over the years, you have always readily given off yourself to the cause of peace, stability, growth and development in our country, Nigeria. For this, we owe you an enduring debt of gratitude,” Jonathan was quoted to have written to Shonekan.

The President prayed that God will continue to guide and bless the former head of government.
